NIGERIAN ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP

Each year NEL community honors distinguished business leaders who have contributed to the building of strong business in manufacturing. Other planned awards include NEL business-government relation award for individuals who have worked to advance business-government relations, and whose integrity, dedication and professionalism echo the ideals of NEL organization. A cash award of $20,000 for the winner of NEL business plan competition. At this gathering scholarship winners will also be recognized.

The funds that are raised at the dinner are used to promote the activities of the NEL organization.

NEL Business Plan Competition

Details:

The concept must be original: original in the sense of delivery to capturing new ideas in service or product delivery.
The concept should help meet the needs of the Nigerian market situation, either in a for-profit, or not-for-profit way.
The concept should lead to growth business that will employ 5 to 20 employees in its first five years.
The concept should be entrepreneurial in growth expansion, in terms of operation locations.

Winner will be awarded a loan of $50,000 seed money (granted in phases). Winner will also be supported by NEL, and NEL group of network of business management consulting firms, and financial institutions for needed growth financing. Winner will be helped in securing proper VC funding.

Starting March 1st, 2007, NEL will be accepting a one-page business plan proposal. Last day of submission is June 1, 2007. Those selected will be notified for a comprehensive business plan presentation in November 2007. A winner will be announced in January 2008.
