Government-Business Relations

To all Nigerians concerned about domestic manufacturing,

The global market, in which we compete both today and into the future, is far more complex than ever before. At the same time, Nigeria is lacking in domestic manufacturing of essential goods. The effects of government actions and policies have a bigger impact on manufacturing. The business of manufacturing is influenced heavily by global events and government actions over which manufacturers have little or no influence other than through our government.

The issues that are discussed on this site are not only about trade. We all have a stake in issues ranging from healthcare, employment laws, tax policy, environmental issues, regulation, and more as they relate to manufacturing in government business relations. Some of these issues are complex but we will try to explain them simply and clearly when necessary. We will consider these issues from NEL’s perspective, and we will be clear as to our recommended position on the issues. This effort is not about partisan politics. The actions we will be suggesting are issue oriented. The recommendation regarding Nel’s position is just that — a recommendation based upon our view of those issues as it relates to entrepreneurial, management and leadership actions.

With that in mind, part of doing more involves education on issues of importance to NEL and thus to all Nigerians. It also involves becoming active and vocal on those issues.

The bottom line is that we need to work together, collectively, to ensure our futures. Just like teamwork counts every day in our various professional work environment, teamwork in the government arena is critical to success.

Let’s do it, together!!

Cletus.
